George Soros is a household name in matters investment, philanthropy and American politics. Soros, whose wealth is approximately $24.9 billion, motivated other liberals to contribute huge amounts towards Hilary’s presidential campaign. These donors included Tom Steyer, a San Francisco environmentalist, who donated $31 million. New York-based hedge funder, Don Sussman, gave $13 million. George’s effect of catalyzing the left’s wealthiest benefactors gave Clinton a financial advantage over the groups supporting Trump. His fierce determination to beat Donald Trump was fueled by the increasing hostility in the sectors that Soros cares about. George Soros advocates for religious tolerance, racial parity and reforms in criminal justice and immigration. He is a vocal supporter of marginalized groups like LGBT and sexual workers. According to the recent fillings of Open Society Foundation, he gave at least $33 million to the Ferguson protest movement in a year. George Soros has been funding and mobilizing activist groups to enable them to combine policy, research and data collection with the objective of advocating for accountability in the community. Soros-sponsored organizations participated in the mobilization of the Ferguson protest movement where they established grassroots partnerships supported by a nationwide online campaign.
The activists’ buses at Ferguson protests were supported by various groups such as the Drug Policy Alliance, the Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference, Make the Road New York and Equal Justice USA, and the Advancement Center for Community Change. Notably, all these entities were partly funded by George Soros. Moreover, George has supported civil rights organizations like BlackLivesMatter, which started as a hash tag to a media phenomenon. In 2011, OSF donated $200,000 to Colorlines, an online news site that zeroes in on issues of race.
